BIBO...Run...Lakaran....
BIBO...Run…Lakaran…
Lingkod-Makati* will have its BIBO (Bata, Ikaw ang Bukas Outreach) Christmas Party at Baseco, an urban poor community, on November 27 (baka gusto niyo, magdonate, pwedeng pwede!). Lingkod-Makati has been doing this for the past 4 years in cooperation with Sun for All Children Organization, a child-welfare non-government organization based in Paco, Manila whose mission is to address the plight of underprivileged and abused children in the Manila area through advocacy work, education assistance and livelihood program for their parents. We usually give out noche buena packages to the kids under the foundation after a fun-filled party loaded with games and treats for the kids. Seriously, yes, we are open for donations J Anyway, with a half-day SAT** activity (BIBO) on November 27, I have much time in my hands (still possible to go home to Pampanga the next day) granting that Nov 29 will be declared a holiday (I am fervently hoping!) and so I checked Takbo.ph’s list of races for November 28 and surprisingly there are 10 (yes, 10!) races scheduled on this day, nationwide, that is. Take your pick:
Manila:
- Greenovation Run at MOA (DLSU is in charge of this)
- Knowledge Channel KaRUNungan 2010 at Ortigas
- Takbo Laban sa Droga at UP Diliman
- Run BGC at BGC (a Chevron car will be raffled off and I would say, this is the most publicized. Have seen their 2 full-page ads in the Sunday broadsheets for the past weeks)
- 2nd McHappy Day Fun Run at McKinley (I think this has the lowest reg fee among the races in NCR, 350 php)
- Resorts World Manila Fiesta Run at Pasay (with a special 1km special category tagged as Rat Race – runners joining this category will don their professional corporate attire, that’s a cool concept but it will surely be difficult to run with a 2-inch heels, hehehe)
Regional:
- 3rd Takbulakan: Takbo para sa Nagkakaisang Lalawigan at Bulacan
- Run 4 ur Rice: Save Rice. Save Lives at UP Los Banos
- 1st Powerade Fun Run and Takbo para sa Karapatan ng mga Bata at Davao (the Powerade Run only costs 180 php! Wow, now that fee is rare in GMM races…)
I’ve scrutinized each race and decided to register for McHappy Day Fun Run (though the Run BGC is really tempting, may kotse eh!) with its affordability and its chosen charity. Unexpectedly, an email popped up in my office account………Come and Join! 2010 Anniversary-Walk-For-A-Cause on November 28, 2010. The company will donate P100 for every employee who will participate in this event and proceeds will be donated through the company’s foundation and as with the previous Lakarans, there would be raffle prizes at stake. Hmmmm…interesting as I’ve not participated in this event for the past 3 years. It is expected that I would not be able to “run” but that is Ok J I do not have to shell out money…I get to help in a small way through the company’s foundation but wait, there’s more! ….. I will have chances of winning in the raffle! (Trivia: When the company staged its 75th Anniversary Lakaran, it gave away a number of 75K and 7.5K to lucky participants, though that is different as 75th anniv is indeed momentous. Last year, aside from the usual raffle prizes, it gave away PLDT Swatch watches to some participants but eventually, all employees got this a few months after the Lakaran. That was our 81st anniversary ).
