BP* 2012: Big John and my passion for reading
Bought this book earlier at National Bookstore (syempre, my favorite hangout sa mall) at P125 only (very affordable noh?). I first knew about Big John last year when John Gokongwei celebrated his 85th bday but the book was not available to the public then. This year, the family decided to sell it to the public through a children’s book. You also get to help the Gokongwei Brothers foundation by buying one. Interesting! Read about this via the Sunday papers and told myself I will buy this the next time I visit the mall. Today, it is! I encourage you to go get a copy J
I have always admired John Gokongwei (yes, even before the Digitel-Sun-PLDT merger, hahaha). Why? Not because of his business acumen but because of his love for reading which he passed on to his children. I remember being an avid reader of Robina Gokongwei-Pe’s column at Phil Star before and she mentioned in one of her articles that her dad always treated them in their birthdays or during Christmas a visit to bookstores where they can buy all the books they want (wow, pwede ba akong magpa ampon Sir John). With the advent of Kindles and tabs and high-tech phones and 24/7 internet where you can download ebooks anywhere, I remained a fan of reading, reading a hardbound book, that is. Some of my friends send me ebooks (thank you pa rin!) but I still end up buying the hard copy. One of the things in my bucket list is to have a private library at home with my complete collection of books from my favorite authors. Yes, I have a passion for reading and I consider buying books my “latte factor**”. I make sure though that they are still within the budget.
I will read this tonight. I will finish this tonight.
So what’s your passion?

Notes:
*BP 2012 – my tag for books purchased in 2012 (this is my first time using this tag)
**latte factor – is a term coined by David Bach, a financial author, which refers to things you buy in small amounts but would later be significant if you add them up through the years
