The Walk
Posted on Friendster, July 2006
I have not been walking to and from the office for a few days now. Reason - Bad weather. Heavy Rains. I started this walking-thing a few weeks back. It's a good exercise both for the body and the...pocket, hahaha. Free-of-charge! Going to the office, I'm exposed to air pollution as I pass by a very busy street. Notwithstanding that nuisance, I enjoy my daily trek. I see different kinds of people all caught up in the busyness of everyday office life. I see myself thru these people. When I go home, I pass by the same route. It's a busier ambiance this time. Food chains are teeming with people. Vehicles are bumper-to-bumper. I still people-watch but I see tired looks on their faces, all in a hurry to go home. A good number recreate in nearby malls after a day's work ( we deserve that!). One thing that fascinates me when I pass by another street, which serves as a shortcut, are the wide array of bars/joints with their bright lights and amusing billboards. Foreigners abound. This presents an environment quite familiar. Hey, I have seen this before! The street nearly resembles a highly-popular avenue somewhere in Angeles City! Anyway, I immensely enjoy my 20-25 minute walk. I realized that it's better to walk rather than take a PUV during peak hours.
*Sigh. I miss this routine. Hope the weather gets better next week :)
