The Greatest Salesman in the World
When I took my "unofficial" leave last July 3, I went to PLDT-Dansalan to attend to some personal matters and having the luxury of time, I decided to drop by at the library. I have been to this library a number of times (to borrow some technical stuff related to work) but it was only during that time that I managed to get a closer look at the wide array of non-technical books it offers. I was overwhelmed. The audio CDs (The books I frequently browse at Powerbooks and which I long to buy if there's extra money are right at this library! Cool eh? Books by Max Lucado, Norman Vincent Peale, Og Mandino and varied editions of Chicken Soup for the Soul abound. Guess what? I even surprisingly found my favorite grammar book (I say favorite as I have lost count how many times I borrowed it way back from college; it teaches grammar with a touch of laughter, so much laughter, hahaha) in the Filipiniana
section. It seems this is not sold in any of our leading bookstores
. After much thinking, I decided to borrow two books: (1) The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino and of course, I should not pass this chance; (2) Watch Your Business English by Rodolfo "Dups" A. De Los Reyes. My first deadline for the 2 books lapsed last July 2 but thankfully I was able to renew it. Owing to time constraints, I only had time to read Og Mandino's book last night(no prayer meeting thus it's a free night) and it's been ages that I start to read a book and finish it in one sitting (parang may mali sa sentence na ito, di ko lang ma pinpoint hehehe). I was too engrossed with it, I finished it in 2 hours and 15 minutes straight, without interruption. I was in tears at the last few pages of the book. It was a heartwarming and touching story with a beautiful biblical twist. Naisip niya un. Yeah, now, I am an Og Mandino fan.
Let me share with you some striking quotes that I wish to document thru this blog. why? Since the book is not mine, using my highlighter is a no-no. Para pwedeng balikan anytime.
- True wealth is of the heart, not of the purse
- Strive instead for happiness, to be loved and to love, and most important, to aquire peace of mind and serenity

- I will never consider defeat and I will remove from my vocabulary such words and phrases as quit, cannot, unable, impossible, out of the question, improbable, failure, unworkable, hopeless
and retreat (naku, palagi ko pa naman ginagamit mga yan..tsk..tsk.tsk.)
- I will persist. I will win
- I am nature's greatest miracle
- Nevermore will I be satisfied with yesterday's accomplishments nor will I indulge anymore in
self-praise for deeds which in reality are too small to be acknowledged
- I will live this day as if it is my last***

God? ***
I hope these quotes will inspire you to be the greatest in whatever field you are in. Bloom where God has planted you
Note: For the other book I borrowed, I guess I will just have to renew it. Will not have much time this weekend to read it.
