Run..Sherill...Run!

Whew! It's been a while since I blogged. Almost a year, I guess. Not that there were nothing to blog about (in fact, there were lots!), just did not have the drive to write. Little did not know that a run will make me blog anew (I wish I ran earlier, hahaha). I wanted to make sure I'll document this "high". Photos to follow (sorry, I am uber lazy uploading pics).

I, along with some bros and a sis (Brent, Nar, Matt, Belle), joined the New Balance Power Run (at last, it finally pushed through after being postponed last Sept 27 due to typhoon Ondoy) earlier at the Fort, Taguig. It was my first official run as the Lingkod Fun Run I joined in last July at UP Diliman was more of a kick-off event for our community's 25th year celebration, participated by Lingkod members and a few guests. Prior to the event, I was so excited, I looked for a running community in the internet to learn tips from veterans and know the future race schedules. Wow, I did not know there are runs almost every week! I have confirmed today that running is indeed a great and exciting sport. Hmm..well some people just call it an "action" and not a sport as everyone they say can do it. Whatever, I dig it! Though I did not have friends with me during the event (they joined the 10K and 3K runs), I experienced sheer bliss. It's funny that I kept on looking on one old lady who joined the event and made her my "challenge". I even memorized her bib number, hahaha. If I see that she overtakes me, I try to have that "second wind" and run past her (ginawang challenge ang lola at hindi ang ka-edad ko hehehe). I felt good that I finished my 5k event in 44 minutes, 30 (?) seconds (still awaiting the final results) Ok...Ok...I made more brisk-walking than running, hahaha but there will always be room for improvement, big room, I would say :) I thought I would not make it as I was kinda feverish the night before, coupled with an upset stomach and sans training. For running veterans, my record may be "ewwwww" but I am determined to beat my PR in my next run (kailan kaya yun?) I was happy to have gotten a finisher medal and a gamut of freebies. Booths galore! I was actually looking for the takbo.ph booth but did not see it. Thanks Brent for the yummy pasta, for the bananas, for the running tips sent via email. Thanks to bro Bert for taking pictures of us, hehehe.

More runs this 2010! Sama kayo?

Iron Man, year 2011 (of course, I am joking! Cannot even swim, hehehe)
